Norway-Asia Business Summit 2019 Opens for Registration

The Norway-Asia Business Summit 2019 (NABS 2019), recently opened for registration. The summit, first organised in 1998, is today the most important meeting arena between Norwegian and Asian business leaders. The target audience is business and industry leaders, government representatives, technology innovators, business support organisations, experts and academia, international organisations and media. The objective is to strengthen trade and investments between Norway and Asia, and enhance cross border cooperation between leading institutions, companies and technology clusters.

The summit in 2019 will bring the frontiers in ocean-based industries together in Shanghai. The 2019 summit is organised by the Norwegian Business Association China in close collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing, the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai, the Royal Norwegian Consulate in Guangzhou and Innovation Norway. Important Norwegian and Asian business associations and federations support the summit.

The Ocean – Energising and Feeding the World

The OECD estimates that ocean-based industries could double their contribution to the global economy by 2030. At the same time the ocean is already under pressure as a result of climate change, overfishing and pollution. The ocean will be vital in meeting many of today’s major global challenges. By 2050, the world population is expected to surpass 9 billion. A rapidly growing population means increased demand for food, energy, transport and minerals. The sustainable use of the oceans and the maintenance of good environmental status can lead to significant value creation, and can enable us to meet some of the world’s most vital needs in the years to come. Maintaining healthy ocean environments is a fundamental precondition for business to operate in the long-term, and addressing current challenges provides a significant business opportunity. Norway-Asia Business Summit attracts innovation and leading technology for a sustainable ocean economy. Asia remains the engine of the global economy, and has an impressive growth in industrial high tech development. Numbers suggests that the region is spearheading adoption of industry 4.0 solutions.

ThaiFex – World of Food Asia 2019

This year Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) will sport its biggest stand ever at ThaiFex from 28 May to 1 June 2019. ThaiFex 2019 takes place at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, close to Muang Thong Thani and is the largest fair of its kind in Thailand.  Norwegian Seafood Council’s stand is located in the seafood section of the “World of Food Asia” at IMPACT Challenger.

The fair attracts industry actors from all over the region and is a great venue for meeting existing clients or establishing new business relationships. The feedback from the Norwegian exporters that participated last year was very positive and the fair had a very high level of activity. This year’s Norwegian seafood stand will be completely generic and build on Norwegian origin. Participating companies will get their names and logos visible on the stand, and they will have the opportunity to share their own marketing material such as brochures. However, there will be no opportunity to exhibit own products or to distribute tastings. Norwegian exporters are welcome to use the facilities on the stand and also use it as a meeting place. NSC will also display current seafood products. New this year is a kitchen section as part of the booth to create attention through cooking demos and tastings. This will benefit the participating exporters. For more info about the fair see Here, the participating companies must register themselves as visitors to access the fair. The registration is free.

On Monday, 27 May at 18.30 hrs, the Norwegian Seafood Council will hold a combined Norwegian mini seminar and seafood dinner at the Westin Hotel in Bangkok. Here leading players from the value chain in Thailand will also be invited. According to the Norwegian and Thai players who participated last year, this was a useful and successful event for the acquisition of market knowledge and networking, and a good introduction to the trade fair itself. The trade fair, seminar and dinner are free for Norwegian exporters.
