New Addition to the Norway Connect Family

Norway Connect is excited to announce the latest addition to our expanding family. Starting 1 April 2019, Norway Connect Kuala Lumpur welcomes new recruit Cadee Chee, assuming the position of Project Manager.

Cadee holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality from the University College of Birmingham in the UK. Having worked with renowned hotels chains such as Hilton and Shangri-La Group for the last eight years, Cadee’s experience in the hospitality and tourism industry is a great asset to Norway Connect and its stakeholders. A little known secret, Cadee is also a certified pastry chef.

Qrill Aqua Presented at VIV Asia 2019

Norway Connect’s client Aker BioMarine Antarctic AS presented its superior product Qrill Aqua for the aquaculture industry in Thailand at the VIV Asia 2019 tradeshow. H.E. Ambassador Kjersti Rødsmoen, ambassador of Norway to Thailand visited the stand on 13 March 2019.

With more than 1,250 international exhibitors, VIV Asia offers a unique selection, including global market leaders and regional as well as national Asian players of growing importance. Professionals active in the production of meat, poultry, fish and dairy products were gathered at the exhibition held at BITEC exhibition centre in Bangkok on 13 and 14 March 2019.

Norway Connect enters co-operation with SubseaPartner AS

Norway Connect has entered into a representation agreement with the Norwegian company SubseaPartner AS from Haugesund, Norway, which has been granted Trade and Investment Support Office promotional privileges under Thailand’s Board of Investment.

SubseaPartner is a global IMCA diving contractor providing subsea solutions from surface to seabed. The Corporate Vision and objectives shall promote and deliver diving intervention well integrated in company project execution.

By using Norwegian Quality & Technology achieved through many years of operations in harsh arctic environment, the offshore and offshore renewable energy sectors will see efficiency and cost reducing elements when planning for divers access to the offshore asset. SubseaPartner delivers subsea services specialised in Air and Saturation diving through state of the at equipment and performing safety measurements to improve the operational efficiency.

Ole Morten Skogland, Chief Commercial Officer of SubseaPartner, said the company sees big potentials for diving operations to support the offshore installations in southern Thailand as well as in other oil and gas producing countries in the region.

Visit Norway Tourism Workshop 2019

2018 was a great year for tourism to Norway. Winter tourism has taken off and many tourists are travelling in smaller private groups to experience the Northern Lights. Last year, exhibitors from Northern Norway participated for the first time and the contacts established then have materialised into Thai tourists visiting Lofoten, Senja and the area around Alta. Last year was also the first year of operation of the Loen Skylift. Other new and interesting products in Fjord Norway are also showing promise.

This year we are expecting more than 25 exhibitors for the Visit Norway Workshop in Bangkok which will be held at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel on Friday, 25 January 2019. Participants are also invited to meet the senior persons from the travel industry at the annual Norwegian Seafood Dinner on Thursday, 24 January 2019. This event is held in the garden of the residence of H.E. Ambassador Kjersti Rødsmoen.

Norway Connect Launches New Website


Today marks the launch of Norway Connect’s new website. The new website is built using one of the most advanced themes available by GoodLayers, which behind the scene features an easy drag and drop building system which takes full advantage of the entire width of the computer screen. Baezeni, a Norwegian related company in Thailand which specialises in 3D engineering modeling and visual 3D presentations and technology has further adapted the theme to mimic the core Team Norway profile design used by several Norwegian related interest organisations and networks. This design features clean lines and open spaces often associated with modern Scandinavian design.

Axel Blom, the founder of the Norway Connect network and the director of the Thailand office, expressed his gratitude and satisfaction with the job done by Baezeni’s designers.

Global Sushi Academy 2018

Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) in cooperation with World Sushi Skills Institute is arranging the Global Sushi Academy 2018 from Monday, 26 November to Tuesday, 27 November 2018 at The Culineur at Emporium in Bangkok. Renowned Sushi Master Hirotoshi Ogawa and Director General of World Sushi Skills Institute will lead the training. The training programme includes theoretical training, a demonstration and hands-on training of how to make traditional sushi as well as a skills assessment, a written test and finally a traditional edomae sushi competition.

Please note that this is an exclusive programme open to maximum 20 professional sushi chefs with a minimum of three years’ experience. Participant selection is subject to NSC discretion and participation is free of charge.

Norwegian Fjord Trout Master Class


Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) is arranging a Norwegian Fjord Trout Master Class on Tuesday, 13 November 2018 at The Culineur at Emporium in Bangkok. Norwegian Celebrity Chef and ex-NOBU Executive Chef Øyvind Næsheim will conduct the Master Class blending the tastes of Asia with superior ocean-farmed Norwegian Fjord Trout. The class is open to all professional chefs with an interest in developing their cooking skills using superior Norwegian raw materials. Participation is free of charge, but participant selection is subject to NSC discretion.

ThaiFex – World of Food Asia 2018

Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) will have an exhibition stand at ThaiFex from 29 May to 2 June 2018. ThaiFex 2018 takes place at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, close to Muang Thong Thani and is the largest fair of its kind in Thailand.  Norwegian Seafood Council’s stand is located in the seafood section of the “World of Food Asia” at IMPACT Challenger.

The fair attracts industry actors from all over the region and is a great venue for meeting existing clients or establishing new business relationships. The feedback from the Norwegian exporters that participated last year was very positive and the fair had a very high level of activity. This year’s Norwegian seafood stand will be completely generic and build on Norwegian origin. Participating companies will get their names and logos visible on the stand, and they will have the opportunity to share their own marketing material such as brochures. However, there will be no opportunity to exhibit own products or to distribute tastings. Norwegian exporters are welcome to use the facilities on the stand and also use it as a meeting place. NSC will also display current seafood products. New this year is a kitchen section as part of the booth to create attention through cooking demos and tastings. The registration is free.

On Monday, 28 May at 18.30 hrs, the Norwegian Seafood Council will hold a combined Norwegian mini seminar and seafood dinner at the Westin Hotel in Bangkok. Here leading players from the value chain in Thailand will also be invited. According to the Norwegian and Thai players who participated last year, this was a useful and successful event for the acquisition of market knowledge and networking, and a good introduction to the trade fair itself. The trade fair, seminar and dinner are free for Norwegian exporters.
