2018 was a great year for tourism to Norway. Winter tourism has taken off and many tourists are travelling in smaller private groups to experience the Northern Lights. Last year, exhibitors from Northern Norway participated for the first time and the contacts established then have materialised into Thai tourists visiting Lofoten, Senja and the area around Alta. Last year was also the first year of operation of the Loen Skylift. Other new and interesting products in Fjord Norway are also showing promise.
This year featured almost 30 exhibitors as well as more than 100 local travel industry professionals at the Visit Norway Workshop in Bangkok which was held at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel on Friday, 25 January 2019. The exhibitors were also invited to meet the senior persons from the travel industry at the annual Norwegian Seafood Dinner on Thursday, 24 January 2019 held in the garden of the residence of H.E. Ambassador Kjersti Rødsmoen.
Next year’s tourism workshop is already being planned and is expected to be held on 17 or 24 January 2020. As always, this is a great opportunity for the travel industry in Norway to meet and discuss future business with the Thai outbound tour operators and travel agents.
